Android (Droid) Thread

After comparing apps with Adam this weekend, I realized there is a lot more out there than I have found. What cool apps have you found?

My most used app is the same as what was on my blackberry, Foursquare. Basically, you "check-in" when you go places and are awarded "points". The points really dont do much, but is just a competition between friends.

Another app im hoping to get some use out of is tapatalk. its a forum app so you dont have to log into a browser to read posts/reply/pm. It works with all vbulletin forums if the admin as activated it. Im hoping Jason will set it up for us .

The rest of them are pretty standard... urbanspoon, the google suite such as sky, goggles, maps, and earth.

Of course, since I have the evo, I have the Advanced Task Killer.

Tyler I'd have to check out your phone next time I see you, still trying to decide what i'm doing phone-wise by end of the summer.

the only drawback i have found on the evo so far is the horrid battery life. im really hoping they come out with a battery about twice the size, because i can easily kill it within 5 hours

Here are a couple of cool ones that I've found.

Craigsnotification- Scans craigslist and notifies your phone when your keywords pop up in ads.
gStrings- a chromatic tuner, detects pitch or plays a note

and of course Hypnotoad

posers... i was droid before all this evo bs

lets see what i've got...

aim
air control (neat little game)
barrage lite (tanks more or less)
bonsai blast (kinda neat little game)
calvin and hobbes (daily comic and you can go through the past ones)
doom (that's right doom the original on my phone, jon told me this wasn't available when he bought his phone)
facebook
garfield (same thing comic wise)
google sky map
magic 8 ball (for laughs obviously)
nesoid lite (have some nes games saved on my card, this lets me play them)
ringdroid (chop up songs i have saved so i can make them ringers, real slick app)
simply cyanide (cyanide and happiness daily comics)
solitaire (no brainer, also has free cell and spider solitaire as well)
space war (meh kinda got old real fast)
teeter (pretty good game)
tilt mazes (f'in looooooved this then i beat it lol)
translator (kinda neat has a deal you type in whatever and then it'll convert to whatever language you want)

think that's all i've got right now.

right on adam

i guess i should say i'm on a hero, doom bogs a little i'm not going to lie. the nes games kind of suck just because it doesn't like more then one button pressed at a time soooooo you have to learn to time shit right. i think that's just my phone since half is on the touch screen and the a/b buttons are on the phones buttons.

some are good some are lame ahhahahah. i used to have a manga thing i really liked. had a crap ton of manga comics loaded up then they pulled it. i went to reinstall since it force closed a few times and i goofed up and lost it.

i dunno about just AT&T, but according to one of the guys in wetdub that manages a t-mobile store, we will have it this fall, in HSPA+ which is apparently faster than 3G. I'm not sure how any of it works, this is just what he said. hence the consideration of the iphone

well tmobile coverage is the part i can't hack about them. if we were in a larger city suuuuure i'd highly consider it.

oh too i really doubt the iphone will ever come to sprint, mostly cause of network differences. with the gsm's they can go to just about whoever i'd imagine with a few small tweeks while i'd guess the cdma style would be all new hardware.
