yeah, that trail looks like too much fun. i'm excited Jamie would go, but she's gonna have a full weekend as it is.

that, and we may have a new addition to the family that she will be taking care of

I used to get out to Camp Horizon about once a year. That trail is a blast... right up until that killer climb at the end. Sheezus.

i have a feeling i know what killer climb you are talking about. i had a friend that worked out there as a counselor and i went out to visit him one time. he convinced me to take my 2wd isuzu rodeo offroading out there... it almost got stuck at the bottom.

i saw your helmet in your garage, i was going to ask if you bike. are you still into it?

I haven't ridden in about 5 years. I still have my mountain bike, it's a full suspension GT, great downhill bike but pretty heavy by today's standards. I think it's a 1999 model. Haven't had time to touch it in years. Sad, really, I used to bike a lot. :-/

I have been runnin 2 miles a day now for my workouts, wanted to grab a bike so i could change it up and save my feet some aches. There was some nice ones at walmart, but im not ready to dump 200 into a mountain bike 0.o

200 will get you nowhere with a decent MTB unless you get a deal on a used one. and even then...

keep in mind, thats like buying a paintball gun from walmart...

keep an eye on craigslist though, there are some decent bikes out there for relatively good prices. i got a great deal on my current bike from there.

Mongoose was fine when we were kids...but as far as something I would feel "safe" riding on on a trail, I wouldn't consider one.

i know you wouldnt buy a paintball gun from walmart, that was my point. i would never buy a walmart bike. not just for trail riding. the bikes at walmart use inferior components that will wear fast and the frames weigh a ton. not that a walmart bike wouldnt work for what you want, but you could get a much better bike used on craigslist for less than what you could get there.

Wal-Mart uses inferior components across the board. I had a friend who worked real high up at Coleman and was in a high level corporate meeting between Coleman and Wal-Mart. Coleman was trying to get Wal-Mart to carry a line of their products. The only way Wal-Mart would do it was if Coleman manufactured a separate set of that line, using cheaper materials and manufacturing processes, so the goods would cost Wal-Mart less. So if you buy a Coleman tent at Wal-Mart, it is a lower quality product than if you buy the exact same tent at the outlet store or somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart does that with everything.

So I spoke to my family that I was looking at bikes to buy and one of them told me that he got a bike for himself a few years back and never even rode it once, I asked what it was and what he wanted for it.. he said just take it out of his garage and give it some use.

So here is my new bike, I know you all hated on mongoose but it was free and I have rode it around for several miles already and it is doing just fine.

^^indeed. it'll handle riding around public roads and stuff, it's just the singletrack trails and such that we were referring to.
