iPod?
How do I get music from another computer on my iPod without erasing the stuff that's already on there? It says something about "sync" and that I will lose all my music?

Okay first thing you do is unplug the ipod and shove it up your butt.

Careful if it's a shuffle. You may never see it again.

Tried that...it says something now about not recognizing my operating system?
In all seriousness, this might help. Maybe we can take time to post screen shots or something to explain this. Because I'm sure in the end we will agree. It's probably just the terminology that's screwing us up.

on a serious note, i know that you can set the ipod to not automatically sync to your computers itunes. the reason for doing this is to get music from other sources besides your home computer.
i have only been able to do this with music that was not bought through itunes. i can drag music that was ripped from cds or downloaded, but whenever i load a song from, say, kaleenas computer that was purchased from itunes, it goes to play the song on my ipod but ends up skipping it. |

Like I said, there are plenty of workarounds for advanced users. I was only trying to make it as simple as possible for someone who may not be an advanced user.

All you have to do is go to your ipod summary on i tunes and click manually manage music and videos and then you just drag all your music manually

Glad you got it, man. Now, music purchased through iTunes might be hit or miss. I've never had the problem Tyler does of not being able to play other purchased music...but songs purchased under 1 iTunes account WILL NOT play on another computer that is not authorized to play that account's songs. Just something to keep in mind. Like I said, my iPod has always played purchased songs, no matter who bought them. Just something to keep in mind.

if you put your ipod to sync manually you can go around putting music on it from others computers. but if you ever go back to your computer and tell it to sync to your computer it might erase what was put on it from other computers. if you leave it under the manually sync you can just basically drag and drop from there. thats what roberts been doing to his a while back. but i dont know how it will work if the music is purchased on other computers.
